With the sound of loud clanging metal and sizzling welding coming to a pause for their periodic break, the manufacturers at the Black Country slowly walk back out to their break rooms, as Unity Leader Youmaton and candidate mikiboss are steadily guided through the factory by one of the workers. After the candidates reach part of the factory floor, they both stand in front of one of the projects being worked on today, and ready themselves for a talk to the press
"I'd like to thank the staff here for helping guide us through this facilities and navigating our way through all of the amazing work that is happening here. It's fair to say that Manufacturing is still alive and well in the United Kingdom, and with just a little bit of help, we can make it thrive." said mikiboss
"Manufacturing has unfortunately been on the decline for too long now, and while we do need to ensure that we chase productivity and efficiency, when it comes to sovereign capacity, or the ability for governments to actually do things in their own power, and contribute to society in a productive way, we start to see how a decline in manufacturing really starts to hurt us. Particularly, when we look at the issue of defence, and how we actually can reliable build, resource, and defend our country, we realise that capacity isn't just an afterthought, it must be there from the start. We here in Unity are committing ourselves to directly boosting our defence and manufacturing capacity by increasing spending on defence to 3% of GDP over the long term. Further, we would ensure that this money is spent in productive areas of the economy with a finalised and the formerly put together updated defence review is put into action. We want to make sure this money doesn't get put towards things like consultancy or branding, but actually goes towards getting workers into jobs, getting wheels on the ground, and making things that make us safer.
“Through our commitment to renewing our nuclear deterrent program, we will ensure that the money invested to build our new fleet of dreadnought class submarines are built here in Great Britain. Local jobs, local skills, local defence” says Youma
"Of course, while our sovereign capacity and defence are directly linked, we can support British Industries in other ways, ensuring that people are about to buy British, get a good product, and actually buy something that makes a difference. For instance, as we undergo the process of transforming our car industry from fossil fuels to electric, we can support our domestic industry by making electric vehicles under $25,000 tax free. This really can help working families doing it tough, while ensuring a stable floor of demand for engineers, manufacturing assistants, electricians, and other mechanical workers and apprentices can actually get a foot in the door." says Miki
"Back on the issue of defence, more often than not, the most necessary reforms that we need to progress aren't just building new things, but making sure the actual facilities and sites we have are up to scratch. We want to safeguard some of the funds we spend on defence on making sure our army installations, our sites, our training facilities, and our barracks are really in the best condition possible. If we let them languish, then having good materials and supplies aren't that good at all. It also ensures we really give good technical jobs to people in all sectors of the British Economy. That's what our proposal for a £400 million fund for renovating and improving base amenities achieves, ensuring that workers and our force are able to operate in a safe environment to the best of their abilities, and the best of our capacities.”
“It’s time we treat our nation seriously, and get manufacturing back up and running again. We can defend our nation, fight the climate crisis, and bring more jobs to local areas together, lets get started.”
