Create the paid position of Deputy Prime Minister

Section 1: Interpretations

(1) For the purposes of this Act, “the Act” refers to Ministerial and other Salaries Act 1975.

Section 2: Deputy Prime Minister

(1) In the second table of Schedule 1 Part I of the Act, insert after “Minister of State”—

“(h) Deputy Prime Minister”

(2) The existence of a Deputy Prime Minister does not oblige the Sovereign to ask the Deputy Prime Minister to form a Government if the Prime Minister should become incapacitated.

Section 3: Extent, Enactment and Short Title

(1) This Act shall come into force immediately upon Royal Assent.

(2) This Act shall extend to the whole of the United Kingdom.

(3) This Act shall be known as the Ministerial and other Salaries (Deputy Prime Minister) Act 2021
