General Stuff

• My main aim is to ensure peers are kept up to date with what has been happening in r/MHOL for the past week (as well as what to look ahead to) and have this as a sort of a reference point for checking things. I intend to keep this up every week (Sunday afternoon/evening UK time).

  • New Peers must have their titles approved by myself before swearing in.
  • Peers that want to update their titles also need to have it approved before use
  • Peers that want to leave the lords must modmail here r/MHOL for our records

• Speak to myself or the Chair of Committees (/u/Sephronar) if you have any interest in forming a committee!

NOTE: The next Activity Review (30% turnout limit) will take place on the 28th January and the next set of Working Peers will be announced on the 6th February.

Monday 16th January

• Results for the High Speed Rail (Crewe - Manchester and Crewe - Preston) Bill - Passed. As the bill has passed both houses in its current state, it received Royal Assent.
• The Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (Amendment) Bill went to 2nd Reading/Amendment Submission debate
• Nominated Peer - January

Tuesday 17th January

• The Employment Rights Bill went to 2nd Reading/Amendment Submission debate
• Results for the Solar Panel Mandate Bill - Passed. As the bill has passed both houses in its current state, it received Royal Assent.

Wednesday 18th January

• The Modern Slavery (Statements Amendment) Bill went to 2nd Reading/Amendment Submission debate

Thursday 19th January

• Results for the Helicopter Flight Sites Bill - Failed. Returns back to the other place for consideration
• The Appointment Deposit Act 2020 (Repeal) Bill went to 2nd Reading/Amendment Submission debate
