LightningMinion and Muffin5136 make a statement to the press outside Scottish Progressives HQ at 272 Bath Street, Glasgow

LightningMinion: “The Scottish Progressives have won 19 seats in the Scottish Parliament, with 327 725 people or 16.8% of the electorate voting for us across Scotland. This is a fantastic result for the party and is higher than what I personally expected we would achieve. I would like to thank party members, colleagues and volunteers for campaigning for the party and helping get out the message that a Scottish Progressives-led government would renew Scotland and convincing voters to vote for us - without your dedication and commitment to supporting the party’s campaign, this fantastic result would not have been possible so I’d like to thank every one of you who volunteered for us. Finally, I would also like to thank those who voted for us at polling stations - I’d like to thank you for putting your trust in the Scottish Progressives to deliver a renewed Scotland and will promise that we won’t let you down.

I would also like to confirm that party leadership has reached out to the leadership of other Holyrood parties with the intention of entering coalition negotiations. It is the intent of my party to negotiate a coalition which sees us end up in government again so that we may deliver on the promises we made to voters across Scotland and so that we may enact our policies of renewing Scotland. However, if for whatever reason our attempts to enter government are unsuccessful and we end up in opposition, we will ensure to properly scrutinise the government which ends up forming to form a proper opposition and we shall seek to work crossparty on passing our agenda to renew Scotland and to implement the promises we made to our voters. To pass our policies, we shall seek to work with all parties who agree with us and won’t be participating in any boycotts of any parties in Scotland.

That was a passage from one of my favourite nursery rhymes to read as a child, and I hope you all enjoyed that. I'd like to thank my co-leader, Lightning for their excellent words so far, and for their excellent work in leading this party since the departure of Rohanite from the party. We have seen excellent growth and work this term, and I am glad to see it shown with this vote of faith from the people of Scotland in showing up to deliver our greatest seat count in Scottish electoral history, something I can only hope to build on this term towards the next election. This may be in Government, or it may be in Opposition, we are yet to see, but what I do know is that we have an excellent team to deliver for Scotland, including experienced hands in model-avery and Model-Eddy to help us on this, and build on our experience in Government from this term gone by.

I do wish to note the unfortunate downturn in people coming out to vote on a national level, suggesting a disenfranchisement for people, and the significant re-alignment of the make-up of the Scottish Parliament shows this in full effect. I hope that by the next election, we can work with parties across the Scottish Parliament to work for you, to ensure that Scotland is in a better place, and that you can once again put your faith into politicians. I want to end on a message of onwards and upwards, as I hope to continue the great work we began last term for you once again!"
