Following /u/CountBrandenburg's resignation as Leader of the Liberal Democrats, an election was called to elect a new leader for the liberal movement in the UK. Following the withdrawal of /u/NorthernWomble from the leadership race, I can confirm I was the only candidate left in the race.
With the conclusion of the Vote of Confidence, I am pleased to report that I have achieved unanimous support from the Liberal Democrat membership, and that I have been elected by the Liberal Democrats to serve as their next leader.
I am deeply humbled to accept this opportunity to reshape British politics and build a brighter future for all citizens of this country. Over the coming weeks and months, my party will work tirelessly to ensure we defend our values of liberty, equality and community. Together, my Liberal Democrat party will never falter in being the positive force in Westminster - after all, it is my party that will always be on your side.
(M: I would like to express my thanks to /u/CountBrandenburg who, to ensure fairness, ran this election.)
