model-willem holds a speech on the NHS at the University of Bedfordshire
Post Body

model-willem arrives in the afternoon at the University of Bedfordshire, to get a tour around the campus and to join some classes on nursery, afterwards he gets to the stage in the auditorium, filled with journalists and students.

“Today, I had the privilege and the honour to meet some amazing and driven students that want to take the NHS to the next level. New nurses are trained here to give the best care and midwives are trained to take care of newborn kids and their mothers. You all are going to be the future of our country and our healthcare system and I’m proud to have met you.

As a former teacher, I take pride in any type of education and the quality of education and it makes me feel good that it’s so high here. But even though the quality of education is very good, there are some things that we need to change in our healthcare system.

One of the major issues is the cost of the NHS and we need to make sure that the NHS remains affordable, while also ensuring that the waiting lists are being shortened. One of the ways we want to do this is to ensure that the NHS is exempt from certain contracts with big private pharmaceutical companies who charge the NHS too high for their medicines. We want to make sure that those medicines can be available for a lower price, which is better for the taxpayers.

But this isn’t the only thing we want to pursue. Mental health is very important to us and we need more places where people with mental health issues can stay to recover while they are getting treatment. Especially teenagers and young adults are suffering from mental health issues, due to stress from school and work. That’s why we are also committing to fund at least an extra 500 beds for youth mental health services.

As I said, I met some of the best young nurses I’ve met in my life. They are going to strengthen our NHS a lot because they are the driving force of our healthcare system. Without sufficient and good nurses we are lost. I think that everybody in the UK has had to deal with nurses at least once in their life and that they all have positive experiences with those nurses. Take my friend, SapphireWork for example, she sprained her ankle and without the nurses in her hospital, she wouldn’t be back on her feet as quickly as she was. Those nurses take care of your sick grandpa and stand-by when there’s an emergency. We know that they save lives and we must support them in their jobs.

But we have to ensure that there are enough nurses and other healthcare workers to support the sick and take care of them in their biggest moment of need. That’s why we need to invest more in nurses and get more nurses to the UK. We need to encourage nurses from the EU and the entire world to work for the NHS in the UK. We need to get the nurses who left the NHS for all kind of reasons back into the NHS because it’s vital for our country and vital for our lives that we retain them and regain them.

You all are doing the hard job of saving us and we all are grateful for the work you do. Thank you.”

With loud applause model-willem steps off the stage, meeting with several students to talk about their ideas and their problems.
