A poll for BBC Scotland asked 1001 Electors the following question on the 26th February 2020.
At the next Scottish Parliament General Election, which party will you vote for on the regional list?
The polling has a 3% margin of error.
Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party: 47.05% (-0.21%)
Scottish Labour: 39.34% (-1.12%)
Scottish Libertarians: 7.02% ( 0.20%)
Scottish Liberal Democrats: 4.19% ( 1.26%)
Loyalist League: 1.56% (-0.77%)
Sinn Fhèin: 0.84% (New entry)
NB: Scottish Labour previous figure includes SNP
Explanations
Conservatives keep up strong activity, a good varied mix of members. Without increased activity or more members, will struggle to get much higher than this. Change statistically insignificant.
This is the first poll to take into account the Labour-SNP merger, and shows that they have done a reasonable job at minimising any bad effecrs of the merger. Next fortnight vital, as will either make or break this new look party.
Scottish Lib Dems and Libertarians keep up modest activity, but either will struggle to break that 8-10% mark without more members.
LL had no activity this poll, hence the heavy fall.
Sinn Fhèin had good activity, but will need more in debates and members to succeed.
All parties should look at submitting more legislation, it's a surefire way to get your numbers up and also keep the Parliament going.
