I am happy to see that my bill, the Protection of Modern Theatre (Wales) (Repeal) Act has received Royal Assent and is now officially the law in Wales. The bill repeals the tax breaks that have been given by the Welsh Conservatives three years ago. I believe that we should not give tax breaks to companies such as theatres and those who perform in theatres. We cannot be putting taxation on income, but not on theatres, and thus harm people all over Wales more than a theatre. The bill originally also put restrictions on local councils to spend money on culture, which I believe is too bureaucratic for Wales.

The Government once again decided to hide behind their useless inquiries, wanting to wait until their inquiries were finished. They forgot that the third reading happened before their inquiry, making sure that the bill passed. I am happy that the Government decided to be weak and indecisive again, as for once they made sure that they did something good for Wales, abstaining on the bill, making sure it passed.

I also want to thank the Independent Member, u/PoliticoBailey, for supporting this bill from the start, it shows how much you can reach when you cooperate on sensible ideas. Also thanking the Llafur members who did decide to vote in favour of my bill, thankfully 14 members did decide that they want to end these special statuses for theatres.

Since the start of the Welsh Libertarians I have stood for less bureaucracy and less unnecessary spending on culture, so I am happy to have hit two birds with one stone. It is clear that the idea that more bureaucracy is good is slowly coming to an end and we must make sure that these actions, even from Conservatives, are undone. We cannot continue having parties and governments that want to put more unnecessary rules upon the Welsh people, their businesses and their councils.

We will be fighting for Libertarian values and less bureaucracy during the next election, so vote for the Libertarians to see us continue our fight for you, the Welsh people.
