Good day everyone,

Since you’ve probably read the title of this post, you already know what this will be about. I have been a member of MHoC for well over three years now, a member of the Lords Speakership for more than 2 years and Lord Speaker for exactly 500 days (once I officially leave the post) which is why I thought this a fitting time to resign. My resignation will take effect on 7 August. This puts me near the top of all time longest serving Quad/Tri members and I’m proud of that achievement. However, being a member of the Quad can be stressful at times and it definitely takes up time, time that I will soon have less of. I love being a member of the Quad/speakership, don’t get me wrong, and I am sad to go, but eventually all good things must come to an end and as one of my favourite writers J. R. R. Tolkien once wrote:

“End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path. One that we all must take.”

I mean, I’m not dying, but the quote still works if you ask me, plus I will be going away for the rest of August on a holiday.

Writing this actually pains me more than a fictional simulation of UK politics should, because I have invested so much time and made so many friends in the process. I’m not even leaving forever, I’m simply resigning my position to lurk around passively until I can return with renewed strength once again in the future (hopefully).

Now to thank some of those friends (as is tradition):

Tyler - Thank you for being a great boss, for listening and for truly being a nice, helpful person who’s easy to talk to.

Joker (if you read this) - You were the head mod I started serving under, and I admired you back then as I do now. I think you did a great job, and you certainly taught me a lot.

Lance - You started serving as DLS way back when I was also just a DLS, you served me when I had (narrowly) been elected LS in an election you also ran in (thanks for sticking around) and you’ve since become a great (and long serving) Speaker. I have enjoyed working together with you ever since you joined the Lord Speakership way back when. Good luck in the future! I’m sure you’ll soon take my spot in the longest serving Quad list. Who knows, maybe you’ll be head mod one day soon (watch out Tyler) :)

Britboy - You also served with me in the Lord Speakership and you’ve since returned again. You’ve always been loyal and competent at what you do. I admire your commitment and I hope you’ll stick around to teach my successor ;)

Comped - Oh man, you started serving under me as DLS as well. I don’t know if I’m just good at raising my DLSs to Quad positions or what, but you since became Devolved Speaker and joined Lance and me. You’re doing a good job so keep at it, even if we do miss you in the Lord Speakership from time to time.

Al - My Swedish friend. You know what we’ve gone through, you know I love ya <3 I probably missed a tonne of people, but they all hopefully know they’re appreciated and that I care way too much for them considering I’ve never met any of them, but I did actually meet you recently irl and I can verify that you are just as nice there as you are in MHoC.

Geordie - You’ve been doing a good job as Chairman of Committees with more inquiries than I can remember ever happening under one Chair before. While you sometimes forget to ask around before taking a decision, you’re still a great member of the speakership team ;)

If you didn’t get mentioned, don’t feel bad. I’ve made so many good friends and met so many wonderful and talented people that it’d be hard to mention everyone.

Now as Shakespeare wrote: “Brevity is the soul of wit.” And thus, before this gets even longer, I’ll end it here by simply thanking everyone once again and wishing my successor all the best of luck :)
