It’s that time of year again, the clocks have fell back and the dark nights have arrived and that can mean only one thing - that the autumn devolved elections are here.
In Northern Ireland we have now reached #AEV whilst in Scotland the parties will be contesting #SPIV - it is your responsibility to remember these tags.
We shall be using the same electoral system as has been used before because any reform will not be ready in time. There is no question about this creating fair results because the issues that were present in the Stormont By Elections would not happen in General Elections.
Apologies to those who were effected in the by elections, we are confident this won't happen again.
Election Timetable (all times UTC)
November 11th - Final Business Day in the Scottish Parliament
November 12th - Final Business Day in the Northern Ireland Assembly
Note that the Scottish Government and Northern Ireland Executive remain in Office throughout the election period (until new FMs have been elected) - this may be of particular importance regarding Brexit and Northern Ireland.
November 15th (22:00) - Candidate list deadline (modmailed to /r/MStormont or /r/Mholyrood)
November 16th (22:00) - Manifesto submission deadline (modmailed)
November 17th - Manifestos and Election Debates posted
November 18th (7:00) - Campaigning opens (/r/MHOCCampaigning)
November 21st (22:00) - Campaigning closes
November 22nd - Polling Day
November 24th or 25th - Election Night
December 2nd - Coalition negotiating period ends, Speakership teams may begin FM Elections.
Manifestos now have a 4,000 word limit. Direct translations of sections (or whole manifestos) into Irish or Scottish Gaelic are exempted from this rule and are the only thing exempt.
Manifestos produced solely in Irish or Scottish Gaelic shall see the Quadrumvirate request a translation into English.
Please tag all campaign posts with #AEV or #SPIV, as appropriate, with either ‘National’ or the name of a constituency (eg ‘Angus, Perth and Stirling’) following this in the title of your posts. Posts tagged incorrectly may not be counted.
All campaigning should be conducted in /r/MHOCCampaigning
Please keep to the submissions deadlines above. Late submissions may be penalised electorally.
Rules
Encouraging your party members and friends to help out in the campaign is completely fine. Any advertising a party does wish to do must be approved by the Quadrumvirate.
Advertising via any subreddit, website, mass PMing, or otherwise which has not been approved by the Quadrumvirate is explicitly prohibited. Any breach of this will result in electoral penalties.
