Russian Sanctions Motion
This House Recognizes That:
The United Kingdom currently participates in economic sanctions on the Russian Federation in coordination with the European Union.
That these sanctions have been ineffective in deterring Russian aggression.
That these sanctions have failed to harm the targeted oligarchs of the Russian Federation.
That these sanctions have negatively harmed the British Economy.
That these sanctions have harmed the ordinary Russian people, who were not targeted.
That these sanctions have lead to more resentment of the West by the Russian people, and negatively impacted relations.
It is better to negotiate with Russia to reach an agreement than it is to maintain sanctions.
This House urges:
- That the government commits itself to not resume sanctions on the Russian Federation after Brexit and instead work with the Russian Federation.
This motion was written by the Right Honourable /u/premierhirohito MP on behalf of the National Unionist Party.
The voting period for this bill will end at 10PM BST on the 9th of October.
