Motion to Increase Funding to Cadw

A motion to increase funding to Cadw to preserve Welsh sites of heritage.

This House recognises:

• That thousands of Welsh listed buildings are at risk and in need of funding.

• That if these buildings are not given the funding they need soon, they may be completely lost.

• That it is important to protect Wales’ numerous sites of heritage.

• That Cadw provides grants to such buildings but is limited in its capacity to do so due to lack of funds.

• That English Heritage was given an £80 million government grant in 2015, but no such similar grant was given to Cadw.

This House therefore urges:

• The Government to increase funding to Cadw or give them a grant similar to that given to English Heritage.
