Animal Abuse Penalty Amendment Bill
A bill to increase the maximum penalty of animal cruelty.
BE IT ENACTED by The Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Commons in this present Parliament assembled, in accordance with the provisions of the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
1: Amendment to Animal Welfare Act 2006
(1) Section 32 (1) of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 shall now read as follows:
"(1)A person guilty of an offence under any of sections 4, 5, 6(1) and (2), 7 and 8 shall be liable on conviction toβ
(a) imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years, or
(b) a fine of an amount not exceeding Β£20,000
or to both"
2: Commencement and Short Title
(1) This Act shall apply from 1st of March 2016.
(2) This Act may be referred to as Animal Abuse Penalty Amendment Act 2016.
