After 2, insert:

3 Generation of noise

(1) Over-water or non-underwater sounds generated by a ship must not exceed 120 decibels.

(2) Underwater sounds generated by a ship must not exceed 100 decibels, including sounds generated by sonars.

(3) The rules above may not apply to ships owned by the Royal Navy.

(4) Any owner of a ship which does not comply with Section 1 and 2, excluding the Royal Navy, commits an offence.
