The white paper, Transport in the 21st Century, can be read here

Mr Speaker,

I am pleased to present to the House this command paper from the Department for Transport detailing the Government's plan for modernising transport in the UK.

The paper details the Government's strategy on transport, and specific policies in the following areas:

• A northern hubs railway project, also known as 'Northern Powerhouse Rail'
• The reopening of closed railways and railway stations
• High speed 3 (HS3), connecting England to Scotland with a high-speed railway line
• Electric vehicles

As a significant portion of the plan for HS3 concerns Scotland, an advance copy of this paper was sent to the First Minister.
