Good evening everybody,
As I announced earlier tonight the time has finally come for me to at long last leave this position and therefore I am announcing my resignation as Head Moderator of MHoC.
It has been a long time since I first took up the job and the ten months since then have seen quite a few changes to the community whether it be our withdrawal from the Model World to the recent creation of a Model Supreme Court. There have been a huge number of challenges that cropped up an awful lot of long days and nights sorting out various issues and also moments of celebration when that hard work pays off, none more relieving than after the previous General Election.
I’m not going to delude myself into thinking that everyone thinks I did a good job (I am very sure I could find several members who think I’ve done an awful one) and I will absolutely admit that I have made mistakes over my time in the position I like to believe and hope that I’ve left MHoC in a stronger position then when I first became Head Moderator. I certainly did the best I could possibly do and all I can do is apologise for where I may have stumbled when that wasn’t enough.
Now having waxed on long enough I would like to thank some individuals who have been amazingly helpful and supportive during my tenure and without which I am positive I would have crashed and burned out long ago.
First of all I cannot express enough thanks to /u/DF44. He made an absolutely phenomenal Commons Speaker and worked his ass off to pull off the last General Election. The amount of work you put in, and the amount of undoubted annoyance you put up with from me constantly reminding you of what needed to be done, was nothing short of incredible and hopefully I was able to help you achieve all you did in at least some small way.
As I’m waffling on for so long I’ll try and hurry through these next few so I would next like to thank /u/Timanfya, his constant advice whenever I needed it was of immense help and allowed me to gain valuable insight and alternative opinions on several issues. Following on from one Ben I’d like to thank another in /u/BloodyContrary. Your patience, understanding and advice has been hugely helpful whenever it has been needed and you’re truly a great asset to the community. Next up for thanks is /u/InfernoPlato who does more for this community than almost anyone else I know and is always there ready to let you know when you’re messing up. I’d strongly advise anyone in any meta position to pay attention to what Callum has to say, you might not like him politically but he is without a doubt one of the most knowledgeable and committed people in the community, also when it comes to politics 90% of what he says is just politics or shitposting if you get to know him he’s basically a teddy bear.
Now there’s simply too many others to possibly name them all but as a quick list I’d also like to thank /u/Troe2339, /u/Tilerr, /u/DrCaeserMD, /u/TwistedNuke and /u/Model-Clerk. As for anyone I’ve missed I apologise but there's way too many to name you all but you know who you are and thank you for everything.
So now with all that out of the way I hope to in a few days when the vote of confidence finishes, leave you in the extremely capable hands of my successor /u/Tilerr (Tyler/TheQuipton). He made an incredible Commons Speaker back in the day and so has a wealth of experience with being in a top moderating position within MHoC and I am sure he will do just as amazing a job as Head Moderator.
You’ll still see me around the place now and again and of course as /u/Timanfya announced earlier I will be staying on the mod list underneath him in case anything apocalyptic happens and one of us is needed to intervene, but for the most part I will be taking a firm back seat and enjoying my retirement. An extremely long nap looks incredibly enticing.
See you around,
