Motion to Support Regional Airports
The House recognises:
1) the growth to local economies Regional Airports bring.
2) that the majority of UK Regional Airports have support of local people to continue as an operational asset.
3) that some UK Regional Airports are historical assets due to past wartime effort that saved this country and Europe from tyranny.
4) the potential growth these assets can achieve in STEM Subjects.
This House urges the Government to:
1) Protect regional airports from being decommissioned or abandoned.
2) start a forum for Airports and the Government to work together.
3) recognise the long term benefit regional airports have in the wake of the Airport Capacity Crisis in London and the South East.
4) stop Air Passenger Duty on flights from airports under 1.5 million passengers a year.
The House encourages the Government to
1) Survey UK Airports to assess there value as a Strategic, Historic and Economic asset to the nation.
2) complete a feasibility study into all 41 UK Regional airports and help fund the development of the most feasible ones.
