Pardon of homosexuals convicted under the Labouchere Amendment and establishment of the National Day for Computing Motion
This house recognises:
-That an estimated 49,000 British citizens were convicted under the Section 11 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act 1885
-That though individuals prosecuted under this Amendment have been pardoned, a majority of the people it negatively affected have not
-That these convictions were immoral and disrupted the work and lives of many individuals viewed as National Treasures today.
-That thought this Amendment is widely viewed as intolerant today, it’s negative effects still carry on
This motion calls for:
-For Her Majesty’s Government to grant a pardon to everybody convicted under the Criminal Law Amendment Act 1885
-For a National Day of Computing to be established on the day of Alan Turing’s death, 7th of June
This motion was written by /u/valttuuuuuuuuuu and is submitted by /u/AlexWagbo on behalf of the Futurist Independent Grouping.
This reading shall end on the 14th June 2016.
