Smoking in Public Places Bill
A bill to ban smoking tobacco from public places.
BE IT ENACTED by The Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Commons in this present Parliament assembled, in accordance with the provisions of the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-
1) Definitions
a) For the purposes of this bill, these terms have the following definitions:
i) 'Public place' means any premises or place to which at the time the public have, or are permitted to have access to.
ii) 'E-cigarette' means an electronic cigarette; a device containing a nicotine-based liquid that is vapourised and inhaled, used to simulate the experience of smoking tobacco.
2) Smoking in Public Places
a) Smoking tobacco in public places shall be criminalised.
b) Any person caught smoking a cigarette in a public place will be subject to the penalties laid out in Part (5).
c) These rules do not apply to e-cigarettes.
3) Penalties and Enforcement
a) Any person(s) found to be breaching Part 2 (a) of this bill has committed an offence and will be subject to a fine not exceeding £200.
b) The enforcement of this bill will be the responsibility of police officers in the United Kingdom.
4) Commencement, Short Title and Extent
a) This bill will come into effect 30 days after passing.
b) This bill may be cited as the Smoking in Public Places Bill.
c) This bill may apply to the whole of the United Kingdom.
