This house recognises:

• That the Turkish occupation of Cyprus is unlawful and that the island’s division violates human rights including Article 13 of the UN declaration of Human Rights concerning freedom of movement, human rights pertaining to the question of missing persons, Article 7 concerning discrimination, Article 3 concerning the right to life, Article 16 concerning religion and Article 22 concerning economic, social and cultural rights

• That the Turkish Government has not cooperated in the fight against ISIS and hasn’t worked in any way to stop the flow of ISIS produced oil through its borders

• That the Turkish Government has practiced censorship against its media and imprisoned multiple journalists for speaking out against the government, which is against article 19 of the UN declaration of Human Rights

• That the Turkish Government has not cooperated in removing child labour especially during the recent refugee crisis

• That the Turkish Government has illegally detained refugees during the recent crisis and abused them against articles 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11 of the UN declaration of Human Rights That the Turkish Government’s ongoing military operation in its southeastern regions that has already killed 200 civilians, and that the Turkish Government’s barring of international health organisations from entering the area violates articles 25 and 3 of the UN declaration of Human Rights

This motion calls for:

• The United Kingdom to condemn Turkey for it’s illegal actions

• The United Kingdom and Her Majesty’s Government to call for Turkey to be removed from NATO

• For Her Majesty’s Government to immediately cease all sale of arms or military equipment to Turkey

• For Turkey to be forbidden from using UK sovereign bases in Cyprus
