Question about laying out rules to a third

We have not done a MFM yet but we are looking to (M22F23). We plan on doing it with a stranger we find a connection with when we go out. Although this isn’t what many people like, this is what we want for a variety of reasons.
My question is for the people who have had spontaneous MFM threesomes, what is your experience with laying down rules with the third?
