Somebody help me

Ive only been smoking for about 2 years now. Ive smoked through glass chicken bones and glass water bubblers. But everytime I smoke, it has a God awful taste. Why is that? I hate to snort it, that burn just hurts too much. Is it something I'm doing wrong? Too much heat? Too much in the bowl? Please help. 54 year old male
