Hey folks!
Short time listener, first time poster here. The short version is I've(33) got a friend(44) who's at a life crossroads and I'm trying to convince to join my trade (commercial multifamily MEP design). He's intelligent, good with computers and such, but has only ever worked in sales. He's got no engineering experience, or even construction experience.
To be clear, I'm confident he can learn Revit and the codes. I'm just not sure, for someone who's never come even tangential to the trades, where to start teaching him our world?
I'll admit I'm autistic af and he is as well. I'm largely self-taught/ on the job trained but I grew up doing home construction, welding/ machining/ fabricating. I started in commercial design/build plumbing in Oct '18, which was also my introduction to Revit. I currently work in commercial MEP design for an engineering firm. No former education in this world, just aptitude and spite.
So, all the above in hand... How do I best teach my friend to do what we do?
