I listened to a podcast episode that I loved today! I don't generally love much of this guy's other podcasts, but this one was awesome! He explains consciousness as various Mental Organs. For example, a sense of self would be one organ that is created in the brain by a group of neurons firing together to give you a sense of self. You can shut off or turn on that organ through various chemicals. Another organ would be empathy for others. I like this concept and would love for his theory to be tested. He goes into some sweet scientific receptor discussions in relation to various hallucinogenics and how THC could correct loss of entactogenic response that some get from doing too much MDMA. Its all fascinating. I link to his paper is in the episode description. Check it out!
