how early should you eat before you roll?

i'm planning to roll on NYE and don't wanna take it like right after i took a meal since that'd probably kill the effects but i also don't wanna go outside without having eaten anything since i'll be outside for quite a while. i'm planning to take it at around 22:30-23:00. so what would be the best time to eat something that isn't too early?
