I am trying to process everything that happened when I was in active addiction as a teenager. I wasn't taking drugs as responsibly as I should. I am researching about everything I've taken, so I can put this chapter behind me.
My time with mdma was short lived because I quickly realised how unhealthy it was. The first time I took mdma, I had 333mg of Mandy for three days straight, the doses where spread out within the day, so each day I consumed a total of 333mg. So it was a moderate binge. The second time I had bought a bunch of really cheap pills, I took one and then redosed with another. I believe these two instances where within three months. This all happened in my house, so I wasn't in a hot environment that would increase neurotoxicity. I slept in-between, so my serotonin had some recovery time.
Although moderate binges are unhealthy and have short term risks, in the long term the user will go back to normal functioning with time. Axon damage only occurs with extreme usage, for example multiple 600mg doses a day for a week, or high doses every week for weeks, months or years.
From what I can gather permanent brain damage from using mdma comes from heavy and prolonged usage. Isolated instances of heavy usage isn't considered enough to damage the brain permanently but will produce neurotoxic effects that improve with abstinence and will eventually disappear.
Is this accurate?
