My theory about doing other drugs + MDMA and the permanent effects it may have on your brain. Critic welcomed

Hello! I am an ex-poly addict; using softer drugs for about 3 years and harder drugs for another 3 years. About the middle of that 3 years, I discovered (presumed at the time) MDMA. It was a little E pill (my only e pill) and I was reckless and didn’t see the point in testing because I bought it from an old school mate. Young and dumb (always test).

Instantly, I was in love. I have always taken MDMA in a private setting with my SO at the time; and naturally being an empath, MDMA makes this equation have a great result. Due to this, it became my “drug of choice”. The love drug for the lover boy.

Fast forward about 2 years, towards the end of my 6 years of addiction, and I was taking a decent amount of tested MDMA Crystal. Def not following the 3 month rule at the time. I think I rolled 5 times in 3 months and then waited 2 months for the next one and then always stuck to the 3 month rule after that one. Needless to say, way too much MDMA. and everytime I have done MDMA, I have smoked a copious amount of weed. Usually dabs, but I think my first time I only had a pen.

This is where the theory begins

MDMA, being a very powerful, potent chemical, and with the high amounts of THC my system due to the dabs; my THC highs have permenetly changed to be (more) similar to MDMA highs. (It’s not as good as it sounds usually, but sometimes it’s pretty fun).

Some of you may see the connection, but for those unfamiliar with neuroscience; the brain has an “ability” known as neuroplasticity. Basically, when neurons fire together, the pathways they used to connect form a stronger bond. Meaning when one of those neurons fire, the other is more likely to fire along with it.

Having taken the high doses of THC and MDMA together, those neurons have fired together a relatively high amount and at a very strong intensity.

Via neuroplacisity, when I smoke weed;the chemical THC lights up the normal THC neurons, while also activates the MDMA neurons. This is why I believe my marijuana highs have changed.

Keep in mind, this is incredibly unresearched from an academic standpoint; there are most likely no studies that have researched this - at least, I couldn’t find any. But I think my theory has enough logic applied to it to be accepted here, unless someone can somehow refute it.

So why am I posting about this?

For starters, I think it’s an incredibly interesting concept and would be great to research in the future. I have only done this with THC, but I can only imagine that the same concept applies to (most) other drugs.

But it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows…

1: Having a huge THC high with a sprinkle of MDMA is honest to god, usually pretty terrifying

2: Molly can be incredibly neurotoxic, as well as THC; I can only imagine this combination of brain activity on the consistent basis I use marijuana to be very damaging. I have resorted to tapering off marijuana, possibly for good. I can feel the intense brain fog the marijuana provides, which is much worse than it was before I used this drug combo. I had brain fog before I did this, but it was not nearly as bad and did not worsen as quickly as it now does. At extremely high doses (usually 2 or 3 dabs off the rig), I feel my brain start to “fry”. That’s the best word I have to describe it. It feels like my neurons are on a fryer.

3: I believe this neurotoxicity greatly affects my memory. My wife and I (who has been present for all my rolls except the first, as well as smoking similar amounts of marijuana while on the rolls) have taken to calling it “molly memory” but I now truly believe it is worsened by the marijuana use x10 more (maybe that’s an exaggeration?) due to using the marijuana and MDMA together.

4: I wonder how this affects my brain chemistry as a whole. It is possible my brain reacts differently to certain situations with these new pathways being linked

I would love to hear people’s thoughts, especially those who have smoked large amounts of THC with MDMA. If this is truly a dangerous thing, more people should know so that they can avoid smoking weed (and potentially other drugs) with MDMA.

TL:DR Smoking weed on molly (or doing any other drug with molly) may connect those parts of the brain together; this could possibly result in the high of the respective drug being manipulated permanent, as well as permanent brain “change” (your entire being “thinking” differently because your brain is communicating to itself in different ways)

I think I missed the part where you have severe mental illness. If that is the case, you shouldn’t be doing MDMA or other hard drugs. I’m surprised your therapist hasn’t advised you against this. I mean this in a medical sense, like psychedelic drugs mental illness can make that a lot worse.
