What do people mean about hallucinations on MDMA?

I love visual substances. I've heard MDMA is a very amazing drug and has some therapeutic potential, but I've also heard of hallucinations while on MDMA? People say that the visuals are very different from traditional psychedelics, but I'm not sure I understand. How do you invoke these visuals and what are they like?

My friend said he hallucinated, cause he took so much because he thought the first pill wasn’t working. Now he’s to scared to touch it.

Not sure if I believe him, but going through the comments I guess you can hallucinate.
