Hello,
I was diagnosed with MCAS over the summer, after suffering for the past 8 years. I have other health issues I’m dealing with also.
I have been getting iron infusions at the Hematologist for the past three weeks, finishing the last one this past Friday. After the second infusion Ingot a rash on my face that has now taken a life of its own 😩. After the third infusion, a couple hours later I started getting large hives all over and they just kept spreading. Nothing seemed to really help. I was taking Benadryl and using Benadryl spray, it would make some of them smaller but new large ones would just appear.
I seemed to finally stabilize Monday from it, but then that evening a few came back. It started small, but tonight I cannot keep them under control. I’ve been taking Benadryl and using the spray, but I feel like I’m going to itch my skin off it’s so uncomfortable. Is this a common reaction from an iron infusion, or do you think it’s a mcas issue?
I have a follow up with the hematologist tomorrow to see if he can help because he wants to see them. But they come and go so I don’t know if they will be present at the appointment, but I have been taking pictures.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to help the uncomfortableness? I’m taking Benadryl and using the spray, I also take Zyrtec. I had to temporarily stop my Cromolyn about 6 weeks ago. I’ve been having a lot of stomach issues and it seems to be making it worse. I’m going to talk with my allergist about possibly mixing it to make a lotion instead. But right now I just really need some advise.
