So had more labs done as provider was not sure after initial urine came back with extremely high urine Prostaglandin D2 (484) and F2 alpha (2374) My baseline tryptase was 3. I was having a flare and went for a repeat which was 6.2.
The providers office called and said it was still low, so no big deal.
My understanding is that you take the base level (3.0) multiple by 1.20 (20%) 2 (for me would be 5.6) for MCAS diagnosis. There is another formula where you multiple your base level by 1.685 (3 x 1.685 = 5.05) would also be positive.
On my recent colonoscopy, there were 45 mast cells per high powered field, the pathologist’s note stated there was no consensus on what considered abnormal but from what I have read, anything greater than 15 per hpf was indicative.
Is it time to try and find a new provider? Am I missing something? Symptoms correlate with MCAS and everything seems to be pointing to it…feeling a bit lost.
