Today, the prime minister, RachelChamberlain, has called a snap general election and has announced the date in discussion with the Speaker, Lord Speaker and Head Moderator.
The Speaker, Padanub, has announced that the election will commence on 22 February 2016 and end on 27 February 2016.
This will be the fifth general election in the Model House of Commons and its announcement comes after the departure of the Green Party from the governing coalition and the formation of the new Official Opposition. It also follows the biggest duping scandal in the history of the Model House of Commons, dubbed "Dupegate".
Over recent months, the number of parties and independent groupings in existence has decreased significantly since the last general election in October. Four parties that stood in the last general election and two independent groupings no longer exist. The community has lost the Pirate Party, Plaid Cymru and the SNP as well as the British Libertarians and the Revolutionary Communists. The Vanguard is now going through the process of restructuring and promininent members such as /u/AlbrechtVonRoon, /u/Rhodesianwaw and /u/Cb1320 who were involved in the party's infamous Yorkshire landslide are now banned.
This general election will see just six parties standing - the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, UKIP, Greens and the Radical Socialists.
Despite some calls for a change to the electoral system and an introduction of voting 'modifiers', it has been confirmed that there will be no changes in how we vote and the voting system will remain the same as the last general election.
