Recent allegations have emerged suggesting that /u/ElliottC99 is attempting to bring members into the Labour Party using methods that might seem 'desparate', such as constant Skype messaging. But, is this as it seems, or has it been wildly taken out of context?
The leadership candidate in the current race for the Labour leader, has been accused of using trying to lure members from outside of his party into the Labour Party in order to gain more votes in his bid to become leader.
The Sun revealed that three alleged messages were sent by /u/ElliottC99 to a Green Party member, who chose to remain anonymous. The first stated that he was "wondering if you could join the Labour Party and vote for me in the upcoming leadership elections".
The second alleged message appeared to say that the "Greens aren't that left-wing" and a third message told the anonymous Green member that he/she "can always join temporarily if you really must."
These claims come just hours after Sinn Fein said that they were being pressurised by /u/ElliottC99 to merge with the Labour Party so that they can vote in the leadership election, despite only asking for an electoral pact in Northern Ireland. However, this claim has been subsequently withdrawn by Sinn Fein.
While these latest allegations are not official, and have not been confirmed by any other individual, it is difficult to conclude whether the alleged incident is true. However, some commentators have been asking, if these allegations are indeed found to be true, is this one of the factors which caused /u/MorganC1 to defect to the Labour Party?
