Best equity strategy for "set it and forget it" investors?

If you're looking to invest in stocks and have a long time horizon, which strategy would be better:

80% VTI (total US stock market etf)

20% VXUS (int'l etf)

Or....

60% VOO (s&p500 etf)

20% VXUS (int'l etf)

10% VB (small cap etf)

10% VO (mid cap etf)

So really this question comes down to how important is it to invest in small/mid cap companies compared to investing in the overall stock market? let's say 25 year horizon, regular weekly deposits to avoid emotional investing.
