Just wanted to provide reference as to what a top doctor’s approach was.
Backstory -July long weekend - knee began to swell after what looked like a bug bite- went to emergency- diagnosed as cellulitis and provided cephalexon. It took swelling down but 3 months later and after 5 rounds cellulitis continued - was referred to top infectious disease specialist in Canada. (I’m lucky as I live near biggest city, healthcare is free and my gp has no ego and provided referral.
Dr Tested for multiple things and diagnosed with Lyme. Gave me 3 weeks of doxycycline 100mg as an extremely healthy 175lb male. (Got a tick bite during ultramarathon)
With a follow up in two months. He had zero concerns on need for additional treatment.
