I want to take my dad on a special trip in the coming weeks or months and am a bit of a loss. It's really important to me that the trip have plenty of activities to keep busy as he's not the sit around and relax type. It's also important to me that I can pre-pay for the whole thing or almost all of it as I don't want him to have to debate the cost of items along the way. He can be frugal. Opulent or stuffy is likely not a good fit for us. He's 64 and I am 36 M.
Uncruise Alaska seemed like it might be a really good fit but I'm nervous about Alaska weather in August as my dad really doesn't like grey/rain. I'd like to take him somewhere before waiting around until prime weather there in May. I plan on taking my mom on the Uncruise Mexico trip toward this winter.
I took my Mom on a barge cruise in the South of France called Athos du Midi and that kind of thing would also be perfect. Small group size, activities to do daily, built in community of 10 other travelers, prepaid with no decisions to make aside from which activities to do or sit out of.
It does not have to be a cruise though. Any planned out tour type thing where we are not burdened with what activities to do or see is helpful. Budget is flex but I'd like to be in the $5K-$10K per person range. Traveling from West Coast of North America.
Thank you so much for any thoughts in advance. This is going to be a really special memory for us both. Let me know if I left out any details.
