Hi all.
I am renting an apartment in Luxembourg. During my stay the apartment has accumulated considerable damage caused by factors outside my control. I have notified my landlady almost a year ago and she has sent several experts to assess the damage. Subsequently, she promised she'd fix the damage, but so far she hasn't done anything to that end. For several months now, she's been dragging her feet on this matter and coming up with excuses as to why repair work is getting delayed. I have a strong hunch that her plan is to wait for my rental contract to expire and, after I have moved out, attempt to seize my security deposit to cover her costs of fixing the damage. I still have two months left until my contract ends, so I was wondering whether there is a way for me to pre-empt her from doing this. For example, should I file a complaint with a local commune? Is there a way for me to make sure that damage assessment upon my moving out is carried out in a fair and transparent manner? Alternatively, should I perhaps refuse to pay the rent for the remaining 2 months unless the damage is fixed? Any advice would be much appreciated.
