Is this a bad idea? Short scale bass idea

Post Body

hi guitarist/bassist here and general non-luthier. basically what I intend to do is buy a cheap short scale bass (probably 30') and tune it in fifths to the pitch of a cello, C2 - G2 -D3 - A3. I'll use lighter gauge strings, thinking 70-48-30-20 or something along those lines (will get a new nut cut of course). is there any reason why this would be a really bad idea?
