A friend of mine purchased a Sub Zero Rogue w/Vibrato a while back and is wanting me to make some adjustments to it. Most of them are fairly simple: New nut, new tuners, roller bridge... but he had also asked me to replace the neck with one from a Stratocaster as he loves Fender's maple fretboards on the rest of his guitars.
Finding a replacement neck was no problem, however when inspecting the guitar I noticed that it has a unique non-standard bolt-on configuration. Something akin to what I've seen in older Ibanez electrics.
As I want to ensure that I can deliver on what he's wanting, does anyone know or can see any issues with replacing the stock neck with a maple one from a Strat? I'm thinking that as long as I can pilot out the placement of the bolts on the back of the neck I shouldn't have a problem - but as it's not my money I'd be gambling with, I thought I would get the opinion of you fine folks!
So, what do you think? Possible or not worth the effort?
P.S. - These guitars sound AMAZING. I seriously cannot believe he only dropped $160 on this thing... plays like a Squier VM Jazzmaster!
