DIY refinish tips

This was a $30 Goodwill find and although it plays fine, it looks terrible. I was thinking of taking on a refinish project and was wondering how you all would handle it. It looks like it was covered in stickers at some point and the top changed color where they were. It’s also scratched to hell. What would you do?
