Am I doing something wrong with my upgrades? (Boss fights)

Iām doing nearly nothing to the Elysium Guard, not nearly enough to kill it within the time limit, but the next sword evolution would be over 100 kills on the previous boss, which makes me think Iām doing something wrong, also is there a way to get that last crit damage up, or do I have to unlock it to get an increase on it
