Lufthansa lost my luggage and now it's been more than 21 days. I filed for compensation today for approximately 2550 euros including baggage costs. I had a a couple of shoes, long coats, t shirts, perfumes etc in it. Uploaded all receipts everything was purchased within last 1-2 months. Had more items also but difficult to find invoices for all so didn't add them just to decrease complexity. Within 12 hrs Lufthansa says that we advise not to keep valuables in luggage and compensation is given as per Montreal convention. They are providing me compensation of 155 euros for baggage costs (that was the exact baggage cost I gave & uploaded receipt for)
I wonder how dumb Lufthansa is or assume customers so dumb. They mention Montreal convention which itself states the liability of lost luggage is capped at 1500 euros. So I should be given atleast that. And by outright just giving claim only for baggage costs, and not any items in it do they assume customers to carry empty check in bags or what. Just looks like cheap tactics to me. I am not agreeing to it & pushing for complete 1500 euro as per Montreal convention even though my loss is much greater. Any advices or experiences to share?
