Meditation really is one of the best things you can do to increase your chance of lucid dreaming, but it's a struggle for many out there. Th Headless Way allows those who struggle with the standard "eyes closed mediation" to discover the extraordinary nature of awareness itself, that it's always present, right here, right now.
It uses very simple experiments pointing back to this ever present awareness and can have profound effects if looked at directly and honestly.
There's no dogma involved, go by your direct experience and see what you find, it's not for everyone, but for those it resonates with it can be quite dramatic.
I'll post a few video's that go over these practices:

I'll leave you with a quote from Andrew Holecek's book "Dreams of Life: The Profound Daytime Practice of Lucid Dreaming"
"When your head is gone, subject and object merge in nondual awareness. Appearances just know themselves, without reference to any scent of knower. This practice mimics dream perception: your dream body doesnât have a head, yet you still perceive. Because of your strong habit of being embodied, and therefore âemheaded,â you still reflexively refer dream experiences to a dreamerâeven though there is no dreamer. The meditation master Tilopa taught, âWhen the mind is free of reference point / This is mahamudra / To get to know this and intimately / Is to reach enlightenmentâs heights.â When perception is nonreferential, observer and observed are ânottwo.â
