I’ve been aware for a few years that I am capable of lucid dreaming. In the beginning I used to force myself awake and then go “what the he’ll just happened?” Not sure which side of sleep I was on. Now that I understand it more, I’m not weirded out by it and I find it relaxing.... most of the time. Sometimes I wake up a bit but if I get relaxed enough I can fall back asleep enough to return to what I was dreaming about before.
Last night (or early this morning) I had my first lucid swimming dream. In the dream I fell into a pond of what looked like foam. In the dream I was worried that it was acidic and I would burn so I started to yell for help. I suddenly became aware that it was just water and I held my breath only to realize I knew I was dreaming. I felt myself go under the water again but I knew to just roll my physical body a bit and I would surface. I did this a few times and I really enjoyed the feeling of floating in water, it was like a high I’ve never felt before....until, for whatever reason, I fully woke up and I couldn’t bring it back again.
A lot of my dreams that have involved water are usually nightmares where I’m drowning so this was a welcome change and I enjoyed having some control.
