Attempted Lucid Dreaming last night, but I bit my tongue..?

Just to mention, I don't practice or attempted this very much but reading this subreddit got me intrigued. As I was falling asleep, I woke up with a pain in my mouth. I was all confused and disoriented, then realized I bit my tongue. Today I have that annoying bump you get on your tongue when you bite it. Is this a normal thing? I never woke myself up before, well not by physical pain anyways.
