Post Body

I'll hit my 8th year on July 8th. Been delivery driver the whole time. Threatened to quit a million times, but for some that's just how we cope with a crappy unappreciated job. Not underappreciated by the customers the customers are always great, I mean yeah you'll have one in every so few that is an ass but the majority of customers are good people you just got to know how to talk to them even through bad situations. Around my lowes I'm known as the king of de-escalation. I know how to do my job and I know how to do it very well because I've done it for the better part of a decade. I know how to take apart most fridges old and new without even looking at what sizes the bolts are. I've learned how to squeeze things in the tightest places you can imagine without hurting the appliance or scratching the people's walls or anything. My soft spot is very elderly people I will break my back to provide that extra bit of service to them. I once spent almost two hours at a lady's house putting in a small little deep freeze because she had no one else to fit it in and it just would not fit in her utility room so I had to move a whole bunch of stuff out the way get it in and then move all the stuff back in a way that she could still get in. But on Aug 5 all my hard work will be all for naught. 3rd party will take over and we are being offered MUCH lower pay in the store. No severance package, no apology, just a gtfo of my store and gobbless. Some little pencil pusher who's never had an actual full day of hard work in his life some how believes that by adding a middle man into a department is gonna somehow be cheaper. Those third party guys make more than we do, their truck uses about the same amount of fuel and they have the same maintenance that ours do and on top of that the third party company has to make a nice little profit off of it, how is that supposedly cheaper? I don't really care. The real person who suffers is the customer, because I've read post after post after post after post about how shitty third-party delivery is. The only Solace I get is that these managers that love sending us back out and doing these emergency loads that "have to go, no exceptions" are gonna be told to shove it by the 3rd party guys, man I'd love to see them when they realize they no longer have that power. Anywho, sorry for writing a book, but I'll still be on here for the lolz.
