This is long so buckle up.
To begin we have 3 full timers (I'm a full timer) and 4 part timers (night shift). We also are on cut hours so i havent had to go in on thursday for 3 weeks including this week. We had a truck with 1200 pieces, I work both plumbing fashion and repair. I had 6 pallets of normal freight (about 3-4 feet high), 2 pallets with 3 water heaters on each one, one wrapped pallet with 2 toilets and a lot of sinks, last was 2 pallets with 1 vanity on each one. Okay so basically about 30min after clocking in my manager came by and told me that we now have to right the item # and quantities on yellow sickers, and that he'll give me some in a bit. When he comes back I then have to go back to whatever is top stock (just under 20 items) and put stickers on them all. I ended up going to the restroom twice throughout the whole shift, wasted a little time with mistakenly not taking enough of 1 item to where they go (had to walk back once), and when stocking 2 heaters in a 1 foot high rack it took longer than I thought cuz the bottom were wet and falling apart. So in totally I maybe wasted about 20 min? Yeah I may spend a bit to much time making sure my card board fits in my cart as I'm working but that's basically all. I ended up finishing it all except about half of a normal pallet. I come in at 9, stopped working at 4:50 so I can top what ever need to be.
My manager told me (in an angry/annoyed tone) that I was the only one who didn't finish and even had someone finish 2 departments. Idk what they looked like but I feel like I had more then them. My manager then goes on to tell me that we are backed up and wants me to go in tomorrow. I tell him that since I had the day not scheduled I made plans. Then his tone worsens and says that I should let him know if I wanna be a part timer so he could hire a full timer, and if I don't wanna work 40 hours I should say so. All I said was "um okay". I havent had leftover freight in months and this time I wasn't even working slow.
I know it's a lot but was I slow/didn't do good enough? I wasn't working slow nor distracted. A lot of the sinks had to go up and I try to make sure I don't do things sloppily. I try to keep the top stock nice and top things properly. Plumbing repair has a lot of little freight. On top of that I actually had a lot of stop stock so i had to stop at 4:50 since we have to be out at 5:30 because "no over time". I scan everything in, wrote on the stickers and today I had a scan gun instead of a normal zebra, all of that slowes you down (the gun not so much but I'm used to having easy access with a zebra). Even then I did 99% of my work, it's not my fault we only have 3 full timers, AND get mad at the person cutting hours not me. I took advantage of the fact I had the day off. They told us at the start to definitely come on truck days if they are unscheduled but any other day you are fine to take it. So I took it. Idk if it's cuz he's older like mid to late 30s or his ideals OR he just loves lowes that much but did I not do as good as I thought?
