I absolutely love the tank missions. Vox Obscura? Not as good as presage but I enjoyed it. The lightfall tank mission? I loved the interweave of the tank mechanics with strand and conventional DPS. Maybe the section where it was just tank combat where I hid in the hallway was a little mid, but all of the rest of it felt awesome.
I'm not entirely sure why, I just love the idea of having an alternate objective that we need higher amounts of firepower for. It doesn't make sense to take out a cabal shield generator with an SMG, and I was fascinated to see it used almost like a raid mechanic in the boss of the campaign mission, where after destroying the suppressor you had to hop in a tank and kill the goliaths before being kicked out.
Does anyone else agree? All of my friends absolutely loathe the tank missions and basically call it bad game design, and I can see why. But I love it.
