You wanna know my opinion on Michael dumping Heather's sweet, precious, heart? Well I wanna know what the hell happened between Mark & Chloe. And much like you, I want a Teo spin-off with or without what's-her-face.
5-6 episodes per season is criminal. I love seeing Jayden find himself in the LGBTQ community in the closing montage, but damn, we're just gonna gloss over my boy Mark losing his connection with Chloe (who I swear to God I wanted to see them get together S1 prior to her LGBTQ exploration, cuz, ya know, growth)?? I want all the deets and I am willing to sit through 10 episodes with 25% filler for 15 minutes of additional, genuine story of these beautiful people.
Yeah, I wanna celebrate our new friend Ronan and his adorable gal finding a connection, but... y'all are here for my two cents about Michael. And I'll tell you...
Hot take: I support you, Michael! It takes a man not only to understand, and appreciate the fact that they aren't feeling a romantic connection, but to step up and take responsibility by communicating with that someone you've developed a bit of a relationship with that you aren't feeling the same.
I heard the heartbreak in her voice when he told her, and it broke me in part. I was happy to see this sort of fairytale fate scenario play out between them (two on the spectrum individuals taking a chance in a neurotypical speed dating service, finding each other, making a connection together...) My cold, black, heart melted much like any decent human beings would watching this unfold. But in a world where ghosting is more convenient... for your own feelings, let's be honest here... where many neurotypical people have felt some sort of obligation to continue a relationship based on some sort of societal or self imposed pressure... People on the spectrum are quick to make a gut decision on the people introduced to their romantic lives, and that's healthy.
Have you seen a more perfect sort of "soul mate" type of couple than Jimmy & Sharnae? Maybe Ruth & Thomas? Anyway, I want that for Michael. I want that for everyone, ever. But... I truly want these individuals to experience happiness in ways which may not have been possible without the resources of this show.
I'm neurotypical, and I take it for granted, but I still wish I could engage in a romantic relationship where I can ask, "how do you feel about us? I feel warm, and I like you, and I want you to like me too." Childlike innocence. And most of us lost touch with the beauty of the simplicity of basic communication in relationships like that. Love hurts, but even autistic people have the right to choose the people they pick to spend their live's with.
