My mother in law says the same shit to me and we’re from the same south Asian culture. She wants me to pamper her son and serve him.
I have to respect her to keep good relations but a lot of the times, I wanna to tell her to fuck off and mind her own damn business
Thankfully my husband and SK are from a different generation that’s more for partnership where you pamper each other instead of it being just women serving men.
Damn patriarchy 😭
It’s funny when it’s another woman pushing that shit too -sighs-
Well the good thing is that SK doesn’t expect it
It just sucks having to deal with it over and over with the in laws
Earlier in the season, he mentions his dad had multiple wives and seeing how it impacted the moms and kids is what lead SK to decide polygamy is not for him
And don’t get me started on my father in law. He’s super forceful about hijab.
I wear super modest clothes yet the other day he wouldn’t let me take the trash outside because “you’re not wearing enough clothes”
Like seriously, fuck off
I’m so uncomfortable around them and it’s near impossible to have a good relationship around people like this
Maybe I’m just ranting because we’re in really traditional, conservative, patriarchal cultures and that scene is similar to many I’ve dealt with since I got married
And they all say it with a “sweet voice” as it makes it any better 🥹
And religion doesn’t help in these matters. It only makes it that much more potent. Hence why I’m just not religious anymore
Okay end rant

Yeah that’s another struggle is checking if your partner stands up to their parents
Because that can cause huge problems too
