Maybe this is a testament to ME being chronically online, but one thing that bothered me about the episodes is how obvious it is that many of the cast members are either super on tiktok or want to give off tiktoker vibes based on the particular phrasing/vocabulary they use…
I can’t remember every single instance, but off the top of my head: “Not us being _____” (can’t remember the actual adjective but I believe this was Brittany to Kenneth, “it’s giving small children” (Laura when Clay/others were bothered by the bean dip debacle) “Slayyyyyy” etc etc
I know people do/say stuff like this ironically but it’s just like. Idk girlypop it’s just very very obvious when people actually speak like this irl and when they think it’s a cute internet quirk! If I wanted to be watching tiktok rn I’d be on tiktok!
ETA: i do agree and should’ve acknowledged in my original post that a lot of it’s AAVE and LGBTQ lingo, i definitely shouldn’t have reduced it to “tiktok speak”. my point was the people speaking like this are getting it almost exclusively from being on tiktok/ig and hearing other nonblack people speak like that bc most of these phrases have been co-opted into the general lexicon unfortunately as just trendy hip lingo. they don’t know the origins and are talking like that bc they heard someone else who was cool online do it first
i also apologize for posting a commonly repeated topic— i don’t post a lot here and didn’t think to search first before sharing 😭 i binge and no one ik irl watches this show so sometimes i’m just tryna start a convo about what i’m thinking about and don’t think to go search for an existing one… anyway sorry for the novel length edit and for the boomer moment LMAO
